I hope you enjoy the photos on my site. Food photography is a 2nd passion of mine, along with cooking food, eating food, and writing about food (pretty much every part of this blog). I don’t claim to be a professional, but I do strive to take great photos, and absorb as much information as I can to learn techniques and better my photography skills. I am FASCINATED by photography and specifically, photographing food. I’d like to think that as I’ve progressed in my blogging that my picture taking skills have improved immensely (just check out some of my earlier posts like this one to see what I mean), and most of that is due to some awesome tutorials and sites that I have come across along the way, since I have never had any formal instruction.
However, sometimes one happens to be in exactly the right place at the right time, realizes they actually have their camera with them, and manages to capture a sight like this:
But this page is about photographing food, not old rustic barns glistening in the last dying rays of sunlight before a coming storm.
My camera - Nikon D200 (July 2009 – present), Nikon Coolpix (before July 2009)
My lens - Either 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6G or 105mm f/2.8 depending on my mood.
I am so grateful to my awesome father for gifting us this wonderful camera as a wedding present. I have learned more about photography in the past year than I think I ever have in my entire life. And every day I fall more and more in love with the art of photographing. Sometimes I wonder which I love more about keeping this blog – the photographing or the cooking! I have collected some great resources for food photography on my Tutorials page. You can also check out my flickr stream if you are curious about my photographing adventures as I try to develop my skills.
