Aww thanks! Yes I think food is most indeed a language of love - and no words are required :) So awesome that your fiance gave you a fry pan!

I think macarons would be quite the serendipitous accident for sure! I agree bread is an amazing miracle - supposedly it is just chemistry but even as a chemist I cannot help but be amazed.

Thanks! I love hearing about how others view their relationship with food/cooking, and I am glad to hear that my views are not unique - it is very encouraging, especially after viewing Jamie Oliver's talk!

Yes this is part of why I love to cook so much and also take a lot of pride in my cooking - it is also very much a priority for us, and one day when we have a family I think we will both do our part to make sure it remains a priority. I am sure your husband loves all of the delicious things you make as well (mmm still drooling over that nutella mousse)!

This was so beutiful. I cook for the poeple for whom I care most... it is my love language. I am fortunate to have a fiance who understands this (he gave me an All-Clad fry pan as a romantic gift one year), and that I have friends with whom I can enjoy a good meal. There is nothing better than creating something beautiful from something basic and sharing it, on the table or on a blog.
Thank you

I loved reading this post. Our relationship with food is complex and multi-layered, and it's good to pause and examine it every now and then. I am also often fascinated by how certain dishes or treats were born (often by accident), and I'm still awed by how flour, eggs, butter and sugar can turn into cookies or cake. And bread? Bread might be the most captivating one of all. In a way, a good relationship with food helps maintain a good attitude overall; your post certainly seems to outline that.
